Although I sell dog collars online, I'm a devoted lover of and advocate for all animals. I'm writing this article to tell my readers about my cat. I've always had a dog or cat, even when I was growing up. To me, animals add such a wonderful dimension to life. My current pet, a cat, is no exception. Her name is Selena, but I have a few other names for her, like Cat Woman and Mrs. Catworthy. But I wanted to talk about the breed of cat she is, because until I got her, I had never seen any cat like her. She is a member of the Munchkin breed of cats. If you remember the Wizard of Oz, the Munchkins were little people who inhabited that enchanting land. So that describes my cat, Selena.
She is built like a Dachshund, only she is a cat. She has a long body and little short legs. She is really cute and very affectionate (aren't all cats that way?). She also has some very interesting behaviors. Let me explain some of these behaviors and see if you agree. She will get on her hind legs, just like a dog. She also lies on her back with her legs straight in the air. She loves to have her stomach rubbed. I must say I love to rub her stomach, too. As I said, she is very affectionate. Sometimes she will demand attention, which I have no problem giving to her.
Munchkin cats are a relatively new breed. The breed was developed in the United States in the 1980's. Originally, there was concern that the particular bone structure of this breed would be a problem for the animal, but this has proven not to be the case. Even though the cat does have these features, it is still able to run and jump, just like other types of cats. I can attest to that with my cat. Health problems of Munchkin cats do not appear at a greater rate than other breeds.
One thing I really like about cats is their personalities. Cats seem to be distinct in this characteristic. They can be affectionate, but they also are their own "cat." They like their space and can be aloof at times. They will be affectionate, but on their own terms. I can definitely say this is true about my cat, Selena. She's really a very sweet animal, and I'm glad she is part of my family. I know when she wants affection and when she wants her space. She has certainly added a lot to my life and she is fun to be around. I have learned a lot about her and her breed since she has been with me. She certainly is unique.
